Succeeding in a new culture requires a deeper understanding of values, behaviours and attitudes as well as a working knowledge of social and business protocol and etiquette. BBi is now offering a course with a focus on facilitating integration into Spanish/Catalan culture. We do this by providing information about Spanish society and by creating awareness of the fact that cultural differences exist and affect communication in our professional and private life.

The course, held in English, comprises four evening sessions, for a registration fee of EUR 360.

We are now looking for reliable, professional and conscientious native Finnish language teachers for classes in Bilbao, Santander and San Sebastian, Spain.

This position requires pedagogical and education experience in teaching in addition to initiative and personal communication skills. Priority will be given to those with experience in Finnish language teaching in an adult education environment. Experience in Healthcare system is a plus.

New Country Manager in Denmark

BBi Communication is increasing its activities on the Danish market and has hired Jane Mølgaard as new Country Manager.

Jane Mølgaard has through her career worked internationally with business development, sales and marketing. Jane has a strong experience from the educational and recruitment industry. She contributed to the foundation and development of the Full-Time MBA program at the Copenhagen Business School, and in addition she has worked with sales and business development in an international recruitment company. With her broad commercial experience Jane is accustomed to cooperating with decision makers at all levels and has the best prerequisites to develop BBi’s business relations.

Jane has a BA in English and German from Ålborg Universitetscenter and a MA in International Business Communication from the Copenhagen Business School.

Workshop – Working as a Foreign Manager in Catalonia

Working as a foreign manager in Catalonia/Spain

Intercultural differences can lead to problems in leadership. Different cultures have very different expectations of managers and employees and this can create problems in communication, in the style of management, at meetings, in the approach to the individual and the group, with providers and clients and in the way the Spanish/Catalan language is used. This is why BBi Spain offers a workshop for foreign managers working in Catalonia/Spain. It’s purpose is to increase understanding of how and why Catalans/Spaniards act as they do at their workplace, both as managers and as colleagues, but also as clients and providers.

Content of the Workshop

During this workshop questions such as – What are the values and codes? How and in what way do these differ from the foreign manager’s or colleague’s values? What is culture? What are Catalans/Spaniards really like and why? As a foreign manager, how are you perceived by your Spanish subordinates? What are the expectations of you as a foreign manager and what are the expectations from Spanish subordinates? – will be answered.

And these are some of the aspects you will go through regarding the cultural differences between a Catalan/Spanish work environment and your own to be more successful as a foreign manager working in Catalonia/Spain:

- Hierarchy (view of the leader)

- Decision-making (where and by whom are decisions made?)

- Meetings (differences in the conduct of meetings )

- Feedback (giving and receiving criticism and praise)

- Performance and targets.
